About me and my therapy practice
My aim is to provide a safe space where you can talk openly, without judgement, about what is going on for you and how it is impacting on your life.
I see counselling as a collaborative endeavour. We are both active participants in the process. I won't tell you what to do, and although you might think that's what you want right now, it's important for you to make your own decisions. My job is to help you work out what is best for you. Although we will focus primarily on your current difficulties, I believe lasting change can only happen if you understand how our early experiences shape us and our expectations.
Identifying and exploring your feelings is an important part of therapy. This is not always easy as a lot of the time people suppress painful feelings. However, if you want to take control of your life rather than feel it is controlling you, you have to work to understand and accept your feelings.
Therapy is about gaining self awareness so that you can make the changes you need to live a more fulfilling and authentic life.
