About me and my therapy practice
*Supervision* I am offering individual and group supervision at low cost towards a Diploma in Supervision. If you're a qualified or trainee therapist, group facilitator or placement manager seeking an individual or group supervisor, please do get in touch.
I'm a UKCP-registered gestalt psychotherapist, group therapist and BACP-accredited individual and couples/relationship counsellor working in private practice and within a GP surgery. I also deliver therapy, workshops and support groups for musicians and performance artists through BAPAM and Help Musicians UK Music Minds Matter scheme. I'm the author of 'How to Understand and Deal with Stress', 'How to Understand and Deal with Health Anxiety', and 'Your Mind Matters: How to Talk about Your Mental Health', published by Hachette.
I was previously an honorary psychotherapist for Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust north London forensic service, and a counsellor and mental health mentor across London universities. I was also a Samaritans helpline listener for 4 years and worked for Samaritans additionally as a copywriter during their male-suicide research campaign: my banners appear across the tube and railway network. I've delivered life coaching to vulnerable young adults leaving care and refugees for Mind in Haringey, and was a ChildLine school service ambassador delivering workshops to primary schools on spotting signs of abuse.
Elsewhere, I'm a freelance writer and founder and host of Sound Affects Podcast – a music and mental health podcast featured in NME's Podcast for the People series, Therapy Today and Psychologies. I appear in the press and media on therapy/mental health issues, including BBC and The Sunday Times. I often work with journalists experiencing burnout and vicarious trauma.

My style is warm and empathetic: sessions can feel reflective, with space for two-way dialogue; other times they can feel playful and creative. My aim isn't to interpret who you are, but to support you to define yourself. Where appropriate, I incorporate creative elements such as art, music, movement, objects, dreamwork and chair work. I don't give advice but focus on getting to the crux of your underlying feelings when you remove society's expectations from the picture.
My first session
To contact me, please email or leave a text/voice message with your name and contact details and I will get back to you at my earliest opportunity by email (between hours 9–6.30 Monday–Friday). From there, I will offer you an initial session/consultation at an agreed time and date, though you are under no obligation to book one. Any practical queries you have outside of this consultation are answered via email rather than a phone call. During consultation, we'll explore the possibility of working together, talk through your concerns and decide together whether counselling/therapy with feels right for you. From there, we'll agree a time slot and pattern of working, and will receive an agreement for working together outlining all expectations including cancellation policies, holidays, fees, illness, confidentiality, contact methods and ending policies.
