About me and my therapy practice

I am a BACP registered counsellor offering individual counselling for adults from an established shared practice in Chorlton, South Manchester. I also work online using Zoom. I talk about things with people in the hope that this will help.

Therapy is an individual process, so how or where it might go would largely be up to you. I can say a few things about my approach to this work.

With respectful curiosity, I'd hope to encourage you to become more interested in all aspects of your life and yourself, including the unwanted and the overlooked - it's hard to change something we don't understand.

I don't believe I know what anyone should do, and I don't jump to solutions, but I can offer ideas or things to try if asked. Mostly I listen, trying to further a shared understanding of whatever we're on about through thoughts and questions that occur to me.

My meetings tend to include some humour, the odd swear, some quiet while someone is thinking, and a few outdated pop-culture references.

I've taken a particular interest in the areas of obsessions and compulsions and the effects of religious or cultic indoctrination.

If you would like to discuss working together or any questions you may have, I offer a 30-minute initial meeting, in-person or via Zoom, without charge. Alternatively, I'm happy to answer any questions by email.

Practice description

My meetings are 50 minutes long and I usually meet weekly with clients at a regular time, although flexibility around frequency or timing of meetings can usually be arranged.

Each 50-minute session costs £60, with a limited number of concessionary spaces (£25 per session) available for people on low incomes. (My concessionary spaces are currently full).

My working hours for in-person meetings at Counselling Rooms are Tuesday, Thursday & Sunday daytimes. My working hours for online meetings via Zoom are Monday evenings & Friday daytimes.

In the main, I work medium to long term with individual adult clients.

My first session

I offer a free 30-minute first meeting to talk about why you're looking into counselling, answer any questions you may have about my approach, and consider if we'd be a good fit to work together.
