About me and my therapy practice
I work as Counsellor and Mindfulness Teacher for an NHS commissioned service and I provide both of these services privately. The characteristics of a good therapist such as being empathetic, authentic, unconditionally caring and non-judgmental are easier said than done. As a client, these must be experienced to be truly understood. I see every interaction with a client as an opportunity to master the very things which bring about positive change for people. Therapy, mindfulness and the alleviation of human suffering is a passion, a career and a way of being for me. Reading testimonials on my website will provide you with insight into how I work from a clients perspective. I have a wealth of professional experience over many years and have delivered over a thousand sessions of therapy and mindfulness to people from all walks of life.
My personal counselling style
The basis of my counselling style is Person Centred. This is grounded in the belief that people organically move toward fulfilling their unique potential. Such potential can be beaten down by the expectations placed upon us by family, peers and/or society. What helps readdress this are conditions such as, empathy and understanding, unconditional acceptance for who they are or wish to be, and genuineness. These conditions form the basis of any good therapy. I also am trained and accredited in Mindfulness and have delivered Cognitive Behaviour Therapy interventions in an NHS commissioned service. This means I can draw from a wealth of tools which may be suitable to each clients unique needs. I remember the first session of my own therapy and the anxiety and confusion which surrounded it. This is entirely normal. Taking the step to enter therapy is no small feat but, is the beginning of a chain of events that can lead to the alleviation of suffering and flourishing of your life. Feel free to make contact and discuss options further.
