About me and my therapy practice

I help people to shape their perspective and outlook to achieve a healthier balanced life. Whether it is your career, your relationships, or anything else that is important to you, I will help you develop the skills to effectively deal with the challenges and emotional situations that are encountered in life that challenge our daily functioning and general outlook.

I absolutely love the work I do, working empathically and collaboratively with people from all levels of society to help overcome their issues. I work non-judgmentally, supporting you to take control of your journey towards new beginnings.

I am a Relate trained couple counsellor, and I can structure the work to help improve levels of communication and intimacy, to encourage a healthier bond in marriage and relationships.

Adult relationship counselling can also beneficially aid support through the challenges of divorce and separation. Effective communication is paramount, especially when emotions are running high to help uncover the path to autonomy and self-rediscovery to enable a smoother transition.

Practice description

I work face to face with individuals and couples on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the beautiful village of Kingsclere at the village club. This location comfortably services Basingstoke, Newbury and Winchester. Free parking is available at Kingsclere Bowling Club which is a 3-minute walk away.

Webcam and telephone counselling is an excellent alternative of connecting to counselling for those who are unable to attend face-to-face and prefer to work from the convenience of their home environment.

Please ensure when working from home your chosen surrounding is safe and secure to enable the process to be a private and confidential space for the duration of each session.

I have recently introduced 'Walk and Talk' counselling at the Hockey Centre in Henwick, the Discovery Centre in Thatcham and Green Common please contact me if you are interested or visit my website for further details.

Walk and talk is an effective way of utilising therapy in a neutral environment incorporating gentle walking exercise to help promote those good endorphins, whilst working through problems.

My first session

I charge £15 per individual for assessments due to my in-depth process to ensure that I am the right counsellor for your needs.  The process lasts approx. 30-minutes.

Weekly individual sessions are recommended for the first six sessions.  When working with couples I usually suggest fortnightly sessions. However, terms are agreed together with the client at commencement of the journey.

Individual session 50-minutes and couple counselling lasts 1-hour. Our first counselling session is a continuation of the assessment to establish more detail of what is going on for the client(s).

My emphasis is to work relationally and collaboratively without judgment or hierarchy. Our partnership is seen as equal with the client being the true expert of themselves. I am here to help, support and guide you through the challenges of change.

About me and my therapy practice

Let me tell you a bit about me and what to expect.

As a qualified professional I provide a confidential and safe space for my clients to feel relaxed and welcome.  I work out of two practices: Thatcham, Berkshire and Shrewton, Wiltshire. Free parking is available at both.

I am totally committed to my work as a counsellor and use empathetic listening skills to understand the issues that are presented. I work collaboratively and relationally to connect with the individual or couple and think of our work together as a team in partnership.

I provide help and support to clients from all levels of society to guide them through their issues. My non-judgmental work ethos is to be supportive and facilitate, you the client, toward taking control of your life. Enabling you to be the best version of yourself. Although the journey may seem testing at times, I will walk alongside you and guide you through the challenges it throws in your path to reassure you and to encourage self-awareness of not being alone on your journey.

In addition to being qualified as an individual counsellor, I am a Relate trained couples counsellor.  I structure the work to help improve levels of communication, which provide the basis for a healthier bond and outlook in marriage and relationships.

Adult relationship counselling can also beneficially support direction through the challenges of divorce and separation, especially when emotions are running high. It can help to uncover the path of autonomy and self-discovery of living as a single person, especially after being in a long or short-term relationship.

Practice description

I pride myself on practising as a professional and providing the best possible service to each and every client I sit in front of.

My personal values and morals are to deliver my clients with honesty, integrity and to help them find their own path to make informed choices in life.

I work with a strong competent connection to my clients to build on trust for the therapeutic relationship to develop. This, I believe, provides a solid foundation for the work to become collaborative, and a sign of my commitment to you, my client.

I passionately believe people are empowered to find their own answers with the right help and support. I am not here to ‘fix’ you and I don’t have all the answers, though I might invite you to think about something differently or from a new perspective to help you gain insight into moving forward.

I know from personal experience the dark times in life can be difficult. I have worked with many clients who recognise the way I practice is to work carefully and sensitively to unlock the difficult path to resolve unwanted problems.

If we can embrace uncertainties and tread the path of the unfamiliar, we can look toward a new outcome that can be rewarding and a place of self-rediscovery.

My first session

To ensure that I am the right counsellor to support you on your journey, and to understand your needs, I complete an assessment by phone or Zoom which takes up to 30-minutes.

Assessments for individual counselling can be combined with the first session.

However, for couples I suggest an separate assessments to gain a clear understanding from the individuals perspective.

There is a charge of £20 per individual, which is refunded if the decision is taken after the assessment not to go to the setting up counselling sessions.

For clients and counsellor to feel comfortable to work together helps to enable the therapy to be more engaged and encourages the therapeutic process of a productive partnership.
