About me and my therapy practice
What can counselling do for you? Well for many clients it helps them to establish healthy boundaries, allowing them to put themselves first again without guilt or shame. This could be to help you balance life with a chronic illness, or as a parent.
Has an experience of trauma, parenting or a new chronic illness diagnosis left you feeling overwhelmed, trying to please everyone by saying yes all the time?
Some benefits to counselling can be learning to set clear boundaries within your life. This can free up time that you can then spend doing more of the things you truly enjoy. By knowing your boundaries this can help you to be more decisive. A example could be setting the clear boundary that you only work Tuesday - Thursday, means when your boss asks you to attend a meeting on Friday the answer is simply a “no”. Once these boundaries are clear in your own mind you spend less time wondering if you could have said yes.
Counselling sessions can be about uncovering things that are really meaningful to you. This could be knowing in your own mind how you want to parent your children, or what your new limits are. Previous experiences can cloud our own judgments and often leave us doubting ourselves, so by dedicating some time to counselling to help you reconnect with yourself you can begin to believe in yourself and trust yourself again. This then leads to you knowing what to prioritise and what boundaries to set as things become clearer for you.
Now this may all sound plain sailing but uncovering past trauma, discussing the limits due to your health or family dynamics can feel raw and difficult. I am here to be with you in these darker moments so that you are not alone. A key element to our work could be helping you to develop grounding techniques or coping techniques. In addition we may work on you gaining an understanding about how your body may react due to certain emotions such as anger or fear to help you gain a better understanding of your own emotions.
Sessions can either be in person within my own private counselling space, where there is easy parking right outside. Or if you would prefer we can do online video call sessions, or telephone calls
In addition we can take our sessions out into nature and do some walk and talk therapy enjoying our natural surroundings. For many being outdoors with nature can help them to relax and feel more connected to the world around them. If this is something that interests you we can discuss during our first call.
One to one in person 50 minute sessions £50
One to one online video call or phone call 50 minute sessions £50
Reaching out can be the toughest step for many and it can often be about timing, therefore please contact me via email to allow you 24 hours each day for you to reach out. I will respond as soon as I can usually within 7 days. If you would prefer to call you can do this leaving me a voicemail with a way to contact you and suitable times to contact you.
My first session
Once you have reached out to book some sessions I will arrange a time to call for an initial 15 - 30 minute phone call, this will give you opportunity to ask any questions you may have and for me to gather some information. This phone call will be free of charge.
During this call we will arrange sessions at a time that suits you that will occur the same time each week for 50 minutes at the cost of £50 which is to be paid 48 hours before each session.
