About me and my therapy practice
Hello. My name is Preeya and I'm a fully qualified Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist.
I understand that reaching out for support can be tough, and it's not always easy to know where to turn to. This is a difficult process and one that takes time and courage. Whatever the reason you have chosen to seek counselling, I provide a safe, non judgmental space where you can unpack and explore your experiences past or present, at your own pace and in a way that makes sense to you.
I believe that each person's challenges are unique, and there's no one-size-fits-all therapeutic approach. I draw from a rich tapestry of therapeutic methods and techniques to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of your internal world and life experiences which enables me to tailor the therapeutic approach specifically to meet your needs.
Practice description
I believe that healing occurs within relationships. When you're truly seen and feel heard, I believe significant healing and growth can occur as you discover new ways of being in relation to yourself and the world around you.
My approach is deeply rooted in respect and care for you, and my theoretical orientation embraces an integrative and relational perspective. I tailor our sessions to meet your unique needs by drawing from a variety of therapeutic theories. I combine traditional talk therapy with a more body-centric approach, incorporating mindfulness, somatic practices, and creativity to help you connect with the present moment. This process fosters awareness, empathy, self-compassion, and self-acceptance.
I understand the profound impact of trauma on both the mind and body, and I take a holistic approach to healing. I believe that counselling is a collaborative process, and I respect your autonomy in setting the direction of our sessions.
Transparency, trust, open communication, and adherence to the BACP Ethical Framework underpin the strong therapeutic alliance I seek to establish with each client. My practice is LGBTQI+ affirmative, neurodiversity friendly and trauma informed. I hold intersectional and feminist values and am sensitive to both the external and internal factors to our experiences. This means recognising that wider societal issues may impact the work we do, as well as your personal experiences.
