About me and my therapy practice
Are you constantly feeling overwhelmed and exhausted from the demands of parenting?
Feeling isolated and lacking a strong support network to turn to for advice or help?
Struggling to effectively communicate with your partner or children?
I’m a counsellor and psychotherapist with a special interest and experience working with parental struggles. If the above resonates with you then you’re in the right place!
There is no judgement, just a safe space where you’re free to explore the complex thoughts and feelings parenting can bring up.
Having encountered many of my own issues in parenting and seeking counselling to help, I bring a unique depth of understanding to my work with clients. Therapy was such a positive experience for me, I wanted to help other parents and I knew I couldn’t be alone in feeling this way.
If you need or want to bring your child to a face-to-face session or while we are online, please do so. Your mental wellbeing is so important and childcare should not be the thing that stops you accessing the help you need.
I believe therapy should be as individual as you. Whether we are looking at your past, present or working towards a goal in the future, we can do so together in a way that is safe, practical and above all, at the pace that is comfortable for you.
I am DBS checked and my services are available to people irrespective of age, gender, sexual orientation, religion, or ethnic origin.
Sometimes you'll know what you want to talk about in the session beforehand, and sometimes you won't. That's ok! You may want to sit in silence and that's ok too. It's your time. I'll be there alongside you, however, you wish to use the sessions.
In counselling, things may feel like they are getting worse before getting better. It is a process and one that can cause you to feel tired after a session or feel like stopping. I'd encourage you to talk to me if you feel like this at any point, so we can explore how to move forward together.
Regularity and continuity are important in counselling, as they give a feeling of reliability and structure. However, childcare can often be a barrier to new parents seeking therapy and I aim to remove this as much as possible.
If you do need to make any changes, please let me know and we can work out what's best for you.
Outdoor Therapy / Walk and Talk
If sitting in a room isn't for you, that's not a problem. I offer Outdoor Therapy/Walk and Talk sessions also. In the local woods, parks or beaches. If you need to bring baby that's ok, we can navigate a route that is pushchair friendly.
If you have an area near you that you'd like to use, please also let me know and we can see if this can be suitable for our sessions.
My first session
If you decide to go head, our first session will be to assess your needs and whether we both feel comfortable working together.
It is very much a collaborative relationship and one you have the freedom to decide whether you wish to proceed with or not.
