About me and my therapy practice

OUTDOOR, ONLINE and THERAPY ROOM sessions are available.

I can help with many issues including anxiety, stress, low self-confidence, depression, panic attacks, phobias, health anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), work-related problems, bullying, abuse, assault, bereavement, and others.

I have been practising as a counsellor since 2012, working in the NHS, the charity sector, and private practice. The type of counselling I practise is Integrative Counselling, which means I can draw on different approaches and activities according to your individual needs.

I pay attention to your life history alongside what is happening in the present and together we will explore how this impacts on your beliefs, self-concept, emotions, behaviours, and coping strategies. As well as helping you tell your story and make sense of your life experiences, I emphasise positive work like defining and working towards manageable goals, improving self-care, building on strengths and resources, and post-traumatic growth.

Sometimes I suggest CBT (Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy) techniques, which can help tackle anxieties and improve confidence, and I can also help you with assertiveness skills. I enjoy creative, intuitive work, such as getting in touch with your emotions through mindfulness or imaginative techniques and linking this with body feelings.

I specialise in helping people who have experienced abuse and assault and I offer specific strategies for relieving the effects of trauma such as panic attacks, nightmares, phobias, intrusive images/thoughts, and flashbacks and for processing these difficult memories.

I also have a special interest in the connection between the natural world and our mental health, nature-assisted therapy (often called ecotherapy), and helping people affected by concerns about the environment.

Practice description

Therapy room sessions are held at Cornerstone Counselling and Therapy Centre (S10/S11).

Outdoor sessions take place in a choice of beautiful natural environments in the countryside to the northwest of Sheffield, on the edge of the Peak District, and in urban parks. Sessions can be walking, seated, or a mixture and can be alternated with online sessions if desired (e.g. due to weather). Some locations are accessible for people with limited mobility/disability.

Online therapy offers the benefit of talking together from the comfort and convenience of your own home. I have found it to be just as as effective as therapy in person.

Fees are charged on a sliding scale from £30 to £55 based on income.
