About me and my therapy practice
Offering the best in counselling, involves providing the space to talk safely, freely and confidentially, without judgement or pressure, within a trusting, accepting and nurturing therapeutic relationship. The process is most helpful for us when the focus is on our unique and specific needs.
Substantial professional qualifications and experience, significant personal experience and practice within a professionally endorsed ethical framework, all help to keep counselling as safe and effective as possible.
To decide whether or not you feel that we could work together, please make contact. It would be a pleasure to talk things through - without any obligation to continue.
At the heart of my counselling approach, is the belief that we ourselves, know our own difficulties best. Knowing this, positions us better than anyone, to find the best options for dealing with the challenges we face. Our counselling relationship offers a way of providing the best conditions for you to find these options.
These conditions include my: respect, believing that we each deserve to be heard and valued for being the person we are; listening, with openness and intention to remain free from prejudice, or criticism; empathy/understanding, trying to get what you are saying about yourself, from your own point of view.
Therapy is different to talking with family or friends. While often helpful, this may complicate things: our problems may involve those people for instance.
The choice of what to talk about, to end, or to continue, or to ask about uncertainties, will always be yours to make, at any time.
My first session
Our first session will be our opportunity to talk through our needs for counselling and for you to decide whether or not you feel we are able to work together. There will be no obligation for you to proceed and you will always be able to go away and take the time you need to think your decision through independently.
