Availability
Currently accepting new clients. I primarily offer in-person sessions, but please contact me if you wish to discuss the option of working online.
I understand that finding the right counsellor is difficult and sometimes it can feel like you are endlessley scrolling through websites trying to find someone you feel you will click with. You might also feel certain barriers to accessing support. To support you in this process, I'm happy to have a free, no obligation initial conversation either by email, phone or videocall.
Please feel free to get in touch if you would like to have a chat about how we might work together, even if you aren't sure if counselling (or me as your counsellor) is right for you yet.
About me and my therapy practice
As an integrative psychotherapist, I work with clients experiencing a range of struggles in a way that fits the needs of each unique therapy relationship. Whether you know exactly what you want from therapy, or aren't quite sure yet what's wrong or what you need, I will offer you a confidential, collaborative and supportive space to explore your thoughts and feelings. I will actively listen to your concerns and experiences, seek to understand your perspective, and offer insights to facilitate your self-awareness.
My approach is rooted in an appreciation of the significance of relationships in both the struggles people face and the healing process. I combine various therapeutic techniques and theories, tailoring my approach to your unique needs and preferences. Together, we will explore any implicit or explicit patterns in your emotions, behaviours, and relationships to gain a deeper understanding of how they might relate to your current struggles. By examining the connections between your past experiences and present challenges, we can work towards understanding and transforming the struggles you face and finding more helpful ways to navigate your life.
Practice description
In private practice I work with adults and young people aged 16+. I have experience of counselling in a school and college, working with young people across a range of issues. I also have counselling experience with adults from diverse backgrounds who have experienced complex trauma. Currently, I am employed as a counsellor specialising in eating disorders working with young people and adults.
Before completing my psychotherapy and counselling training, I worked in the Criminal Justice System and have over twenty years of experience supporting people navigating emotionally challenging life events.
I have recently completed my psychotherapy and counselling Masters dissertation research project in the field of genetic illness testing (specifically Huntington's Disease).
My first session
Our first session would be a little different from other sessions as it involves slightly more structure; there's a counselling agreement to go through and then some background questions so that I can explore whether there are any issues I need to know about so that I can work with you safely. I'm happy to send these documents in advance if that feels useful. Subsequent sessions would be led by you - I usually start by asking clients what they need from the session and we take it from there.
