Sometimes things are a struggle and seem overwhelming. Asking for professional help is not a sign of weakness, it is a show of strength, and the first step towards making the changes you need, in order to get where you would like to be. It can be a daunting step to take, but if you would like to know more, please call. We can arrange an initial session at which we will discuss why you are seeking counselling, go through the paperwork, and most importantly see if I am someone you would like to work with. It is important that you feel comfortable with me for the process to be effective. There is no obligation to continue after this initial session unless you want to.
My work is underpinned by certain beliefs:
You are unique: I believe that you are unique, as is the situation that brings you to counselling. My initial aim is to understand who you are, why you have come to see me, and what it is you would like to get from counselling.
Everybody has the potential to make changes: Whilst we all have the ability to change, sometimes we think, believe or behave in a way which prevents us from realising that potential. You may feel stuck. You may feel like you are going round in circles. Together, we can identify these blockages and work on removing them so that you can move forward.
Our past informs us, but does not have to define us: We are all a product of our past.Things may have happened in your life which have greatly affected you. Despite the fact we cannot go back and change past events, together we can explore their impact on you, and look at how you choose to take them forward.
