About me and my therapy practice
Coming to this place, I'd like to think that you have found a safe haven to come and explore what is most troubling you. I take special care in offering a calm and accepting space dedicated to helping you find a way forward.
I work with what deeply affects you; traumatic memories and PTSD, bereavement and loss, anxiety and panic disorders, relationship difficulties and intimacy issues, feelings of isolation, sadness, depression, vulnerability, uncertainty and fear. I am confident I can provide that much needed space where you can feel heard and, as a result, be more in tune with yourself and how you'd like to live.
My integrative approach involves working relationally and combines humanistic, psychodynamic and cognitive elements in a way that fits who you are and what you need. I am trained in mindfulness practice and can incorporate this into my service if you'd like that. My clients have found this useful for helping them feel grounded and more able to respond to what is happening around them.
I am practiced in working with trainee counsellors (concessionary rate applies), teenagers and young people, as well as adults.
Practice description
I'd like you to feel confident that I will accept who you are with warmth and without judgement. I understand that you may feel uncertain, lack confidence or feel overwhelmed by your issue and I know that sharing your feelings in a safe space is so valuable.
Taking that step to reach out takes courage and shows how much you want things to be better for you. You deserve this.
I offer short-term and open-ended counselling, including a 6 week block of sessions, and I work face-to-face and online via Zoom. I welcome enquiries and am happy to talk through what I can offer you with no obligation to continue if it doesn't feel right.
I look forward to meeting you when the time is right for you.
My first session
Together we talk through the working agreement and assessment that I send you in advance. The assessment is made up of questions that help me to understand what your issue is, how this affects you and what you'd like to achieve from counselling with me.
I talk with you about what your expectations are and what I can offer, including my limitations. Our first session is a really valuable time for exploring what you'd like to achieve with my help and together we set realistic goals for how this can happen.
I feel it is so important to be honest with each other and I'd like you to feel confident to ask me anything you're unsure about or would like more information on in this session.
This is our chance to get to know each other and your opportunity to see whether you feel comfortable to work with me. This is our basis for starting what can potentially be a profound and life-changing experience for you. I value your hopes and where you'd like to be so I take time at this stage to explore this with you.
