About me and my therapy practice
The counselling I offer provides a professional, safe, and non-judgmental space in which to explore your innermost thoughts, feelings, and concerns with an experienced counsellor. My core approach to therapy is person-centred, however when appropriate I may integrate other techniques into the work that allows me to adapt the therapy to best suit your needs so in effect puts you the client at the heart of the therapy. Having the opportunity to talk and work through the difficulties and concerns you are experiencing can often help to understand and make sense of the current situation and provide potential opportunities for change and to move forward in life.
Whatever your reasons are for seeking out counselling nothing you bring is considered to be too big or too small a problem because if it’s causing you distress then it matters. I have extensive experience of working with clients who present with a range of different issues and concerns both in the long and short term. Since qualifying my experience has been gained by working within a private practice, part of that time as deputy manager and currently in my own private practice. I have also worked for various charitable organisations in the voluntary sector some of which include supporting victims of crime, cancer patients and their families and counselling victims of domestic abuse.
My first session
I understand that reaching out and asking for help is a daunting prospect so if after exploring my profile you still feel unsure, I am happy for you to contact me for an informal chat. This does not commit you to booking a counselling session with me. The most important factor for you as a client is to find a counsellor who you can relate to and feel comfortable with.
If after our informal chat you would like to book a counselling session with me this will be an assessment session, where I will take some brief personal details and background information of why you have come to counselling so we can discuss how best I can help.
I am open to answering any questions so please try not to feel worried about raising any concerns that you might have.
