My usual working hours are between 9.30am and 5.00pm on Mondays and Fridays though there can be some flexibility on other week days.
About me and my therapy practice
I work with companies and individuals to provide talking therapy and CBT.
Work-related stress, relationship difficulties, anxiety, depression, bereavement, and coping with ill health are issues that often bring people to counselling. I have also seen a growing interest in wellbeing and resilience, which has helped clients to move beyond what's holding them back to working towards a place of authenticity, growth and development of a life in line with their personal values.
I work primarily in a short-term focused way, and have found 6 to 12 sessions best suited for effective change to take place, though I also work longer term. I am happy to offer single-session support, so please feel free to get in touch if this would work for you.
My therapeutic approach integrates a range of models including person-centred, humanistic and cognitive-behavioural therapy to adapt to the needs of each person as an individual, and can provide help with grounding techniques such as breathing and mindfulness.
My training in the relational approach puts the therapeutic relationship at the centre of the work on the basis that a good rapport between therapist and client is an indicator of positive outcomes in therapy. We will work together to identify any aims you have from therapy and I will support you in achieving those goals.
Within this I work to create an environment where you feel safe to talk freely and openly about your experiences, look to find meaning and an awareness of any patterns of behaviour and responses that have been learned which may be providing challenges for you. From here, we can identify ways to work towards growth, build resilience and confidence in making the right choices for the person you are now.
My first session
Our first session will allow space for you to tell the story of what brings you to counselling. We will then look at which areas you would most like to focus on in further sessions. I will explain how counselling can work for you and answer any questions or concerns about it that you may have.
It's a chance to start building the relationship which will take us through what can be some tricky times, so building that trust early is key.
For single-session support, we will look at the most effective outcome for you in the short term.
