About me and my therapy practice

In this period of the coronavirus pandemic, I am offering online and/or telephone counselling to help you cope with increased anxiety, uncertainty and distress.

I have purposefully reduced my regular fee (from £70 to £50) and I am wiling to offer low rates (between £15 and £30) to all those who have lost their jobs and/or experienced financial difficulties due to the current crisis. I believe that it is my ethical responsibility to make therapy affordable to anyone who needs it in this extremely physically and mentally distressing time.

I am an experienced psychotherapist/counsellor (20+ years) who fervently believes in the value of the therapeutic process and relationship. Central to my therapeutic perspective is the conviction that my clients need to experience their growing sense of self in a facilitating environment which promotes their psychological well-being.

For this reason, I want my clients to feel safe, valued and accepted. I also approach their problems, anxieties and fears in an empathic, concerned and genuine way that is non-judgmental. I use the rich symbolic language of psychoanalysis to explore the effects that my clients' past and present traumas, losses and relational difficulties have on their psychological development.

I am a member of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the SITE for Contemporary Psychoanalysis (UKCP org.) (I served as an Acting Chair and member of the SITE Council). As an academic, I have been teaching undergraduate and postgraduate psychotherapy and counselling students in various higher and adult education settings for the last 20 years. I also supervise the clinical and research work of trainee counsellors and psychotherapists both at university and privately
