About me and my therapy practice
Welcome to my page and I hope you will find it helpful. You are most likely here because you, or someone you are close to, may be going through a difficult time. I believe that in recognising you are struggling, and finding the strength to ask for help you are on the first step towards changing your current situation. I will offer you a non-judgemental, safe and confidential space to discuss your thoughts and feelings about anything you may be currently facing, or simply wish to explore. My therapeutic approach is Person-Centred, I have a good understanding of other approaches, and can offer CBT-based coping strategies where necessary. I believe that in talking about your issues in an accepting environment where you can be fully understood, clarity can be gained and I can assist you in working towards a resolution that is best for you. Session fees: £40 p/hr (I work to a full hour).
I am experienced in working with adults and young people who are facing common issues such as depression, anxiety, self harm, suicide, eating disorders, and issues relating to the self, amongst many other issues. I also have a lot of experience in working with drug and alcohol addiction, having previously worked in a residential rehabilitation service for those suffering with serious drug and alcohol addiction. I have experience in working with eating disorders (e.g. Anorexia, Bulimia, and BED) and currently work for a local eating disorders charity also. I have a special interest in diet and nutrition, and how this benefits our wellbeing overall. Please note I work with adults, and young people who are over 18 only.
I am currently able to offer face to face sessions on a Friday afternoon, and Zoom or telephone sessions on a Tuesday afternoon or evening, or a Thursday morning.
My first session
As well as ongoing therapy, I can offer Single Session Therapy (SST), or OAAT - ('one at a time' therapy). These are a lot more structured, and focused on one particular issue you wish to look at, just within one single session. If you wish to have a single session, I would normally ask the client to complete a very short pre-session form (either written or over the telephone), which will help us to prepare for this session and to remain focused on the issue you wish to address. If you wish to enquire further about Single Session Therapy, or my practice in general, I can offer you more information (at no cost).
