About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I'm Eileen a psychotherapist and nutritionist. I work with individual and couples. At present, my practice is online/phone-based and I offer a free 30-minute initial consultation. I also offer walking therapy appointments.
I think therapy is for people who have the self-awareness to recognise that they need a helping hand and that is something to be applauded. With counselling and psychotherapy positive changes in your relationships, work and life in general, can take place, even when those challenges seem overwhelming and distressing. I work with people experiencing low mood, depression, anxiety, stress, relationship challenges, childhood issues, bereavement, anger, and feeling 'stuck' in life.
If you are struggling with issues around food and eating come and work with me. Combining therapy and nutritional support is very effective and I regularly and successfully work with clients who have disordered eating patterns and challenges with weight. I'm a Licensed Practitioner or the Understanding Your Eating Programme the focus of which is emotional eating.
As a couples therapist, I work with straight and same-sex couples in my practice using a model called Imago Relationship Therapy. Imago is a highly practical and effective method that has helped thousands of couples worldwide establish more connected, passionate and joyful relationships. My aim is to provide you and your partner with a safe, confidential and empathetic service. Therefore, my role is to facilitate both of you in exploring and progressing your relationship with safety and connection as priorities. Whatever the cause of your relationship problems the sooner you get help the better the chances of success.
You can have an appointment with me online or we can have a walking therapy session.
I offer online therapy and online couples therapy via zoom. Zoom is safe, encrypted webcam software that will allow us to talk about what’s going on for you wherever you are in the world. When you are having counselling online you have to take more responsibility for your environment; I’m not there to ensure the correct conditions are provided. You'll also have to make your own cup of tea!
You will need to find yourself a quiet room where you will not be disturbed or overheard.
Imagine if you were having face to face therapy and someone walked in, it would be shocking! Your job is to make sure this does not happen when you have online therapy too.
You will have to make sure you are not going to be overheard by someone in the next room. If you are worried other people are going to hear you, you are less likely to share with me.
Walking therapy appointments are a great alternative to online sessions. They can be face to face where we meet at a place that's convenient for both of us. We can also have a walking therapy appointment by phone.
My first session
Finding the right therapist that fits for you is essential.
I offer a free 30-minute introductory session. This gives you a chance to talk about your difficulties, ask any questions you may have and work out for yourself what you want to do next.
Our introductory session will be an hour and I charge £85. This first session will allow us to meet together, you as a couple will get an opportunity to share what brings you to couples counselling, ask questions and we can discuss how we will work together. You will also have the opportunity to start to learn the imago dialogue process.
