About me and my therapy practice

As a humanistic therapist I am passionate about empowering personal growth for my clients, therefore will not use a 'one size fits all' treatment.

I work interactively using different modalities that suits your needs and will be agreed upon during our sessions

Practice description

I provide care, consideration and empathy with a strong knowledge and experience working within mental health spanning 17 years throughout the Northeast and NHS settings.

I use different modalities to suit your needs for instance, using Transactional Analysis (TA) will help you get a better understanding of yourself as an adult through childhood experiences, whereas as Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) will look at your current symptoms today and how events in your life may be contributing towards them for instance, bereavement, relationship issues and any life events that may have caused distress.

I use Eye Movement Desensitisation Repossessing (EMDR), for trauma whether it be childhood or an incident that happened recently and you are finding yourself stuck and unable to move on. This modality works very well with PTSD, and also where clients feel stuck on historical thoughts or messages that turn into repetitive patterns in their lives. (For instance, I am not good enough might be a message that has plagued you but unable to shift this despite knowing you are!)

In a nutshell, I will help you to explore, understand, and explain the feelings and emotions that are related to your experiences, which allows you to reflect on what is happening and seek alternative ways to heal.

My first session

Your first session involves asking you a lot of questions about you, how you cope, your symptoms and what brought you to therapy. We will also discuss your goals for therapy, expectations and the therapeutic contract if you decide to work with me.

Your first therapy session can be emotionally draining, even if you don’t initially expect it to be.

My main goal is to make you feel as comfortable and safe as possible whilst in the therapy room and I will be checking how you are during our session to ensure you are not feeling too overwhelmed. This is your therapy, and you have the right to stop if a topic feels too uncomfortable.
