About me and my therapy practice

Hi, my name is Alison and I am a specialist children's, adolescent and young persons counsellor. I have a degree in Psychology, am a qualified early years and primary school teacher and have a masters in Counselling Children and Young People. I am registered with BACP and NCPS. I also have a DBS. I have over 20 years experience working with children and young people. I have a particular interest in anxiety, OCD, self-esteem and relationships.

Practice description

I am an integrative psychotherapist / counsellor offering 1-1 sessions for children, adolescent and young people. I offer a calm supportive environment and will work with you so you feel as comfortable as possible. I am trained in a range of methods which places me in a very strong position to support you as sessions will be tailored to meet your needs. The methods I am trained in includes person-centred, CBT, psychodynamic, creative, therapeutic play and others.

I am very approachable and work hard to put you at ease and help you to feel supported. This will help you to talk about things you are finding stressful or difficult and we can explore thoughts and feelings together.

My first session

Once contact has been made, we will have a telephone consultation for up to 30 minutes, this will be free of charge and will help us to go through what to expect and any issues you may want to discuss in sessions. If we are all happy we will arrange a first session at a mutually convenient time. For the first session parents/carers are invited to join for the first 10 minutes or so. This will give us an opportunity to meet and go through the agreement. The rest of the session will involve me and the young person getting to know each other.
