About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I’m Juliette, a qualified integrative counsellor working with adults.
Attending therapy can be useful for many reasons. It could be that you have reached a stage in your life where you feel it might be helpful to take some time to connect with yourself, to discuss a particular difficulty you are facing or to explore your general sense of well-being.
Perhaps you are experiencing feelings of overwhelm, persistent worries, feeling low, or difficulties in your relationships. Maybe you have questions about your sense of identity or purpose, or you are struggling with grief & loss, trauma, or other distressing life events.
As a humanistic integrative counsellor, I believe that in the right circumstances, being seen and understood in the presence of another can enable healing. I also believe that you are the expert of your own life and have the answers within to discover your authentic way of being.
I seek to create a warm, accepting, and safe environment where you will feel able to explore what is important for you. A space that will enable you to make sense of your current feelings and behaviours and acknowledge your lived experiences and their impact.
We will work together collaboratively and at your own pace to understand your experiences and ‘felt sense’ of what is happening within yourself and in your relationships with others. Using a compassionate approach we will bring gentle attention to the areas that might be getting in the way of you feeling at ease or connected and learn new strategies so you feel empowered to take the next steps in your life.
I offer an inclusive practice that is respectful of your identity, sexuality, gender, neurodivergence, culture, beliefs and personal choices. I am committed to being anti-discriminatory in my approach.
Practice description
Training & experience: My training has covered a range of therapy approaches, including person-centred, gestalt, systemic, psychodynamic, and cognitive behavioural therapy. This allows me to work flexibly and responsively, according to your changing needs.
I have an Advanced Diploma in Humanistic Integrative Counselling, Postgraduate Certificate in Child, Adolescent & Family Mental Wellbeing and a Post Graduate Diploma in Applied Social Studies with Diploma in Social Work.
I bring a breadth of life experience to my practice gained through 25+ years of working alongside people from a wide range of social and cultural backgrounds during periods of challenge and distress. This includes work for Mind, time as a mental health social worker and with a specialist trauma informed project supporting women on release from custody.
I recently worked for 2 years with Headstrong Counselling low-cost service, as well as an NHS funded talking therapy service within a London women’s centre.
Current practice: I am currently working online with a wide range of adults from differing backgrounds and intersecting identities. I will be offering in-person therapy from September based in a women's centre in Camden where I will be available to those who identify as women.
The centre is a short walk from Camden Town Tube or Camden Road rail station and is well connected by buses. A ramp and lift are available.
My first session
Please email me so that we can arrange an initial 15–20-minute telephone session (no charge) where we can briefly discuss your hopes for counselling, how I work, and I can answer any questions you might have. I will discuss my contract, fees and potential availability. This brief session will be a chance for us both to see if I am the right therapist for you.
If we decide to move forward, I will offer you an appointment for a 60-minute assessment session charged at the agreed rate. This will be an opportunity for you to understand more about the therapeutic relationship and process.
At the assessment session I will ask more specific questions about your history and some personal information including your GP and emergency contact details, date of birth, address, contact details and any relevant medical conditions and medications. This information will be kept in accordance with Data Protection legislation and is to ensure we can proceed with therapy in a safe way. I may take some brief notes.
Towards the end of the session, I will ask how you feel about continuing further. You can take time to think about this. If you do decide to continue, I will ask you to sign a copy of my contract before the 2nd session.
