About me and my therapy practice
I am a BACP registered and UKCP accredited counsellor and psychotherapist who offers a safe, non-judgemental and professional space where you can be supported in exploring your past, present and/or future within a therapeutic relationship that you will feel really seen, heard and understood in.
There are many reasons why people might seek therapy as everyone is unique with their own lived experiences. It could be for support and change with feelings of anxiety, depression, shame, low self-esteem or isolation. Unhealthy coping strategies might now be creating significant suffering such as in the cycle of addiction. At times relationships can become challenging or we might not want to 'burden' others, and the support of someone completely external and non-judgemental allows us to make sense of situations and what choices we might have. There could be trauma experienced within the past which is impacting the present and causing pain which we want to safely address. At other times, there might not be a precise issue that can be described but more a feeling of wanting life or things to be different.
Whatever your personal reason for searching for change and healing, therapy with a professional can really help to support you. I also want to assure you that reaching out is not a sign of weakness or failure - one of the bravest things anyone can do is to ask of help.
Practice description
I have a depth of understanding gained from extensive training and through both personal and professional experience. As an integrative counselling psychotherapist I am trained in and use a wide range of approaches, skills and theories, applying these based upon your individual needs. This reflects my belief that we are all unique and as such there is no one approach that can support everyone. I therefore aim to collaboratively work alongside you, within our therapeutic relationship to best support you on your personal journey.
Qualifications & Experience
- MSc Integrative Psychotherapy, Middlesex University
- Postgraduate Diploma in Integrative Counselling from the Metanoia Institute.
- Postgraduate Diploma in Integrative Psychodynamic Counselling from the Metanoia Institute.
- Trainee EMDR Therapist, EMDR Association UK
I am registered and accredited by the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) along with being a full registered member of the BACP and I follow their code of ethics and practice when working with clients.
I engage in regular continuous professional development to ensure my professional standards remain high and so that I can continue to give the best support possible.
I have worked in a variety of different counselling services and for a number of years I was part of York Drug and Alcohol Service's Changing Lives Oaktree's team, providing a 12-week community rehabilitation programme to help stop the cycle of addiction.

My first session
I understand that taking the first step towards beginning therapy can be daunting and so I offer a free, 15 minute, no obligation initial phone consultation. During this you can ask any questions you might have, let me know what has brought you to make contact at this time and we can explore what you might like to be different. You'll get a sense of how therapy might be with me and if there is a good fit we can look towards an initial session. Please feel free to contact me to arrange this.
In relation to how many sessions you might need, this is different for everyone - sometimes a few sessions can be effective, at other times a longer term approach can be better. We can discuss this more during the initial session and we will regularly review our work together to ensure you are getting what you need.
