About me and my therapy practice
I am an experienced and qualified counsellor who can provide you with a safe, confidential space where your thoughts, feelings and behaviours can be identified, explored and worked through alongside a supportive and non-judgemental therapist.
I believe that although we cannot change what has happened, it is possible to see events differently; no longer being controlled by the past but instead using it as a means of understanding compassionately why the present might look as it does and then exploring how the future could be different.
In relation to my way of working with you; I am an integrative therapist, this means that I do not subscribe to one way of thinking and am instead trained and skilled in a variety of different psychological theories. I believe that every person is unique and hold the utmost respect for individuality, as such, I will work with you collaboratively and relationally, to form the most suitable approach to support you with the challenges you face.
I understand and appreciate that it takes a great deal of courage to reach out for support. I offer a free initial consultation where you can ask questions, let me know any of your concerns, gain a sense of how I work and then decide if you want to have an initial session. The process of therapy has been proven to help people live a more fulfilling, contented life so I do hope that you find the help for whatever issues you might be facing.
I offer short term, long term and open ended counselling.
Sessions are 50 minutes in length, weekly and at the same time.
Due to the current situation with Covid-19 I am providing online (Zoom) and telephone counselling. Once the guidance changes I will be able to see clients face-to-face work at my practice in York.
My first session
I hold that it is fundamentally important to find the right therapist for you. I therefore offer a free, no obligation initial phone consultation. This space is for us to talk through any questions or concerns you might have, what has brought you to look for therapy and how I might be able to help you.
After this, if you would like to continue with me, we can arrange an initial session.
