About me and my therapy practice
I am a highly qualified and experienced BACP senior accredited psychodynamic counsellor and psychotherapist. I offer both short term and long term counselling and psychotherapy and I am able to work with a wide range of issues, including, but not limited to, anxiety and depression, relationship issues, personality issues, stress and bereavement.
I am widely experienced in voluntary, statutory and educational settings. I currently work in private practice. I have worked as an Associate Tutor on the MA in Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy at the University of Leicester. I have also worked as a Senior Psychotherapist in the NHS. In addition to being a senior accredited member of the BACP, I am also an accredited registered member of The British Psychoanalytic Council.
I offer a space to help you think about what is going on in your life. Sometimes therapy is about making sense of the past and your feelings about it. Sometimes it's about thinking about what is going on in the present, and how you can move forward. I can help you unblock feelings and think about who you are and where you want to be in your life. Therapy is a two way process, I will be there to listen and help you to get to a better place.
My consulting room is conveniently based in Rushden, by the A6 bypass, easily accessible from Bedford, Wellingborough, Northampton and the surrounding villages. There is free onsite parking.
Do get in touch if you have any questions at all, if you would like to discuss whether you would like an initial appointment, or whether counselling or psychotherapy is right for you.
My first session
In the first session we will explore what has brought you to counselling or therapy, starting to think about you and your life up to now and what might be contributing to your current difficulties. There will be space for you to ask any questions you have, and for me to establish whether I am the right therapist for you. If we are both happy to continue, we will then put some sessions in the diary. I see clients weekly, as in my experience this is the most effective. I usually see people on the same day and at the same time each week, but I will try to work around shifts where possible.
