About me and my therapy practice

I am an accredited psychotherapist and counsellor. I work with adults and young people aged 16 +, working both long-term and within a time-limited framework. I work privately and with a local counselling charity. I've been a school counsellor and volunteer in bereavement support.

How we relate to ourselves and to others impacts our mood, our confidence, our outlook and self-esteem. I work to shed light on how our relationships shape us, and how we can get stuck repeating patterns of behaviour that no longer serve us. Symptoms such as anxiety and depression thrive when we get into a vicious cycle of relating ineffectively. Through counselling we can free ourselves up to think and feel differently. As new perspectives unfold we gain a deeper understanding of ourselves, enabling us to foster healthy relationships, to better manage our internal conflicts and reconnect to our own strengths and choices.

I trained in an integrative approach allowing me to use a range of psychotherapeutic theories and skills to ensure I meet the individual needs of each person. The connection between therapist and client is vital to positive therapeutic outcomes. I prioritise building a trusting, mutually-respectful, collaborative therapeutic relationship from which to explore whatever is troubling you. If we feel that I am not the right practitioner for you I will always seek to refer you to someone better suited to your needs.
