About me and my therapy practice
I work in an Integrative way which means that I do not believe there is one model of counselling which is suited to all people as each one is a unique individual. I aim to be sensitive to the cultural and ethical background of individuals and to respect these as an important part of who they are.To create an environment whereby you feel safe to explore feelings and options and develop a better understanding of self. I qualified as a Counsellor in 1999 and taught Counselling Skills and Personal Development for many years. I have experience of working with young people, disability and a variety of settings. I believe it is important to "take time out to listen to yourself" and I believe that Counselling enables you to do this. I have also done a lot of work on my own Personal Development and see this as an ongoing process.

About me and my therapy practice
I am a qualified Counsellor and was trained within the Integrative Model. I am also a Supervisor with a Diploma in Clinical Counselling Supervision -Level 7: Post Professional. I also have a Teaching Certificate in Adult Learning. I lectured in Counselling Skills and Personal Development courses.
I work with qualified Counsellors and trainee/student Counsellors face to face, on line or telephone which suits your needs best.
I aim to work sensitively and embrace differences; to respect, support, and to encourage and help you to grow in confidence, skills and knowledge.
I will encourage you to make use and maintain your own sense of self that you bring to the process of supervision.
I am aware that each person has different learning styles and learns at a different pace and I will consider this within our work together.
Should you wish to apply for BACP Accreditation; I will offer you support and guidance in the process.
Practice description
My aim is to encourage you to prepare for supervision, to prioritise what you bring to supervision and to consider what it is you are looking to get from it. This will enable you to focus and work more effectively in the best interest of the client.
Reflection on your work is a big part of supervision. I will encourage the habit of reflecting on your work regularly to help you identify areas to develop or things they you may find challenging.
For example, I have found that some counsellors finds it difficult to know how to phrase the words to challenge. I will help you to become more confident in the skills of Challenging by introducing you to a tool kit of phrases. The aim is to help you feel more comfortable and prepare to challenge in a way that is both constructive and empowering.
My practice is in my garden which is well maintained and clients often comment how calm and tranquil it is. It has it's own washroom facilities and side entrance. Your health and safety is given utmost priority.
My first session
I offer a free half an hour for us to meet as this give us both the chance to assess if we can work together. The supervisor and supervisee relationship needs to be such that you feel comfortable to present your case load without fear of being judged or holding back as this will not be in the clients best interest.
A starting question you may want to consider is: What am I looking for in a supervisor? Is this person the right supervisor for me and why?
Our first meeting is also to assess: the level you are at in your training or experience, what are your expectations from supervision and the model in which you were trained.
At the end of the meeting hopefully, we will have agreed a working contract. This will include fees, cancellation, venue and our responsibility to each other for the purpose of supervision.
