About me and my therapy practice
Understanding how I work:
My starting point is offering you a consultation, this is an opportunity for us to meet and explore your expectations and understanding of therapy and what it might feel like to work together. The consultation session is an opportunity for you to take, time and space, to talk about what is happening in your life, whilst having an experience of being valued, accepted and understood and to see how psychotherapy maybe helpful to you.
What is therapy like with me?
I am a BACP, registered and accredited psychotherapist, practicing since 2008. I have worked for local authorities, voluntary agencies and in private practice, supporting individuals, foster-carers, families and children to find some meaning-making of their worries, relationships and self, in order to feel more content and able to manage the world.
In explaining what therapy might be like, I consider it to be, a chance to meet yourself, and hear yourself, in a different way. It can lead to a number of thoughts, feelings and sensations, that can be helpful to listen to and make some sense of.
I will endeavour to ensure that you feel safe, contained and secure while engaged in psychotherapy with me. This is important as therapy can feel intense and challenging, it can be hard work, at times, but is a good investment in your self-care.
We will work at your pace and with the topics that you bring. I will aim to offer you a relationship, that supports you, in a non-judgmental and caring manner.
