Availability

I offer in-person sessions from my comfortable home office near Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, as well as online sessions via Zoom. Some clients choose a blend of both. I’m available at various times during the day on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays — just drop me a message to check my current availability.

Taking that first step into therapy can feel daunting, so I aim to make the process as straightforward and easy to engage with as possible. You're very welcome to get in touch if you have any questions or would like to explore working together — I’ll respond with care and without any pressure.

About me and my therapy practice

Hello and welcome. I'm Ben (he/him), an Integrative Counsellor/Psychotherapist offering a warm, supportive space where you can explore whatever’s going on in your life — at your own pace and in your own way.

I work with adults (18+) both online and in person from my consulting room in Warsop, and I offer open-ended therapy tailored to your unique needs.

I’ve been working in mental health settings since 2008, and I bring that depth of experience into my work as a therapist. I began seeing clients in 2018 during my training and qualified in 2020. I became a BACP-accredited therapist in 2022, which reflects a recognised standard of professional training, clinical experience, and ethical practice. I continue to support my work through regular supervision and ongoing professional development, which help me to reflect, grow, and stay resourced in how I practise.

Practice description

My approach is relational and integrative, which means I place the therapeutic relationship at the heart of our work together. I pay close attention to your emotional experience, your developmental history, and the ways we come to relate to one another in the therapy space. I aim to build a relationship that feels attuned, respectful, and emotionally present — one that can support healing, self-understanding, and lasting change.

Whether you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, anxious, depressed, disconnected, or unsure of how you feel at all, I’ll work with you to make sense of things and support your capacity for growth and healing. I aim to create a space where you can feel safe enough to speak freely, and where your thoughts and feelings — even the difficult or contradictory ones — are met with care and curiosity, not judgment.

I work with a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, low mood, relationship issues, self-esteem, identity questions, and the effects of past trauma or loss. I also have experience supporting neurodivergent clients and those from LGBTQIA+ and GSRD communities, and I aim to provide a space where all parts of you are welcome.

I’m particularly interested in supporting people who are looking to deepen their relationship with themselves. This might involve exploring issues around self-worth, belonging, or how you connect with others — especially if old patterns feel difficult to shift. I enjoy helping clients develop a clearer sense of who they are and what they need, and to feel more grounded and at home in themselves.

My first session

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and it’s completely natural to have questions or feel unsure about what to expect. Our first session is a space for us to meet and get a sense of how it feels to talk together. We can take it one step at a time, and you’re free to decide if it feels right for you.

We’ll spend some time talking about what’s brought you to therapy, what you’re hoping for, and what you might need from the process. I’ll be interested in hearing about what’s important to you, and we’ll think together about how we could begin to approach things in a way that feels manageable and supportive.

Before we meet, I’ll send you a pre-therapy information sheet that outlines how I work. This gives you a clear picture of what you can expect and helps us get the most out of our first conversation.

If, after the session, it doesn’t feel quite right for any reason, that’s okay — you’re under no obligation to continue. Similarly, if I feel that another kind of support might serve you better, I’ll always be honest and help you consider other options.
