About me and my therapy practice

Welcome

With the Coronavirus epidemic affecting our normal way of life, your mental health may be suffering. It is a very unsettling and unusual situation that we find ourselves in, and it will understandably, for many people, bring a range of feelings, including isolation, anxiety, a loss of control and more. This situation may also exacerbate or alter existing mental health issues.

Counselling can help. Exploring your feelings through one-to-one discussion can provide you with support. It can also lead to new ways to deal with or live with the issues that are having an impact on your mental health and wellbeing.

Under the current circumstances, I am now counselling solely online through one-to-one video calls. I know this might be a different way of working for some people, but I have many  years of experience providing sessions this way, and can talk you through the process as part of a 30 minute low cost consultation.

My  counselling approach can be helpful with a range of issues e.g. anxiety, isolation, loneliness, depression, relationships, stress, low confidence and low self esteem, abuse, bereavement, grief , loss and sadness.

I offer you a safe, confidential space for us to work together, a place for you to be listened to without judgement, be taken seriously,  and be able explore ways to bring about positive change and a better balance to your life.

To help you decide if I'm the right therapist for you  I offer an initial  low cost 30 minute informal consultation, now via online video .

Some fee concessions are available e.g. students, low waged and seniors. Please enquire.

I'm also a qualified counselling supervisor and offer supervision and support for qualified and trainee counsellors, coaches,  and  professionals in other caring and support roles.

About me and my therapy practice

Welcome to my profile

I'm a very experienced counsellor and supervisor in private practice in Exeter. Due to government guidelines re Covid-19 I'm currently seeing all clients online, however from 3rd August I will also be seeing clients at my Exeter practice. this means there will be the option to work with me face to face or online, whichever you prefer.

I work with both qualified and student counsellors and am an approved supervisor for Iron Mill  College, the Margaret Jackson Centre and Exeter College.

My initial training was person centred but I'm experienced at and interested in working with supervisees from other modalities and would describe my practice as integrative.

I've got a professional background in mentoring and coaching and really enjoy supporting student counsellors during their training and beyond. in my previous practice in Edinburgh I worked with students from Caledonian and Edinburgh Universities  and those studying with private providers.

I'm an experienced counsellor with a Post Grad Diploma in Counselling from the University of Strathclyde, a Certificate in Stress Management (OCR) and Certificate in Creative Supervision (UKCP)

I've been in private practice since 2008 and supervising counsellors since 2014

I offer a free initial 30-minute meeting, after which the fee for qualified counsellors is £55 per 1-hour session. I offer a discounted fee of £40 for student counsellors and for those in the first year of setting up in private practice.
