About me and my therapy practice
Counselling approach and expertise:
My effective online counselling approach can be of help with a wide range of issues and life events e.g., anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, low confidence, relationship issues, adult and childhood bullying, bereavement, miscarriage, menopause, abusive relationships, career and family issues. I have experience of and special interest in University student issues, bereavement and other loss, stress and Womens' issues and wellbeing.
Exploring your feelings through one-to-one discussion can provide you with valuable support, personal growth and new insights and perspectives. It can also lead to new ways to better deal with the issues that are having an impact on your life and overall wellbeing.
I work with all adults from age 18 upwards.
My experience:
I’m a very experienced counsellor including over 8 years' experience of working with online clients in the UK and abroad.
A registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapists (BACP) and working to the code of ethics set down by the BACP ethical framework.
Professional background:
Prior to becoming a counsellor, I worked as a freelance learning and development consultant , coach and mentor, specialising in management development, personal development, womens' development and stress management.
I've also had senior roles in the recruitment sector and have substantial experience of employability.
Practice description
I've over 14 years of experience in private practice
Over 8 years experience of working very successfully with online clients
- I work with clients based in the UK and abroad
- I can offer you some simple guidelines for getting the best out of online counselling
- I also have a face to face counselling and supervision practice based in Exeter, Devon
- You pay weekly, not in advance, and of course you can stop at anytime you feel is right for you
- I work with and support adults at all stages of their lives from University students to seniors.
My first session
- I offer the option of a low cost 30 minute informal online consultation
- This provides you with the opportunity to meet with me, find out more about my counselling approach , talk about your expectations of therapy, and help you to decide if you feel comfortable working with me as your counsellor
- If you decide to go ahead we can then arrange for your first 50 minute counselling session

I'm a very experienced and approachable counsellor offering you the choice of working in person at my practice or online.
I see clients at my practice in central Exeter, in a comfortable, airy room with lots of natural light. .

I currently have space for one new trainee counsellor.
Having previously worked as a professional coach and mentor , supporting counsellors starting up in private practice is something that I also offer as part of the supervisory relationship if required.

Welcome to my profile.
- I'm a very experienced counsellor and supervisor in private practice in Exeter and online.
- I work with qualified and trainee counsellors and those in other caring/supportive roles
- My initial training was person centred but I'm experienced at and interested in working with supervisees from other modalities and would describe my practice as integrative and relational.
- I've a professional background in coaching and mentoring and especially enjoy supporting counsellors setting up in private practice.
- I'm an experienced counsellor with a Post Grad Diploma in Counselling from the University of Strathclyde, a Certificate in Stress Management (OCR) and Certificate in Creative Supervision (UKCP)
- I've been in private practice since 2008 and supervising counsellors since 2014
I offer a free initial 30-minute meeting, after which the fee for qualified counsellors is £60 per 1-hour session.
