My main working day for offering therapy/supervision is a monday.  General working hours are 08.30 to 6pm.  I am currently also offering some friday mornings where a Monday is not possible but this is likely to be 2 friday mornings per month; many clients i find do not wish to have weekly sessions.  I can be contacted for enquiries at any time during the week and aim to respond promptly.  Texting to make initial contact/enquiries is fine.

About me and my therapy practice

As a senior accredited counsellor/psychotherapist with BACP I offer therapy and supervision. I have over 30 years experience developing humanistic, professional, enabling relationships, and as a qualified counsellor over 18 years.

My two main areas of working in private practice is as

1. An integrative therapist undertaking short and long term therapy with individuals and with young people from 14. Feedback from my clients over many years has always highlighted my ability to facilitate a working environment that has enabled them to work in a relaxed, supportive but also usefully challenging relationship. Many clients fear judgement and I understand this and work actively to create a non-judgemental relationship:  no safe or productive therapy can take place without a fundamental trust in this respect.  I also focus on working flexibly with clients to meet their needs which may not always be weekly therapy.

2. I also provide supervision for therapists in practice with adults and young people, and I have 18 years experience of working as a counsellor in Child and Adolescent Mental Health which provides some expertise for those working with young people in distress. I also provide supervision for small groups (up to 4), for trainees and for organisations. The rates for the above supervision do vary from £40 to £60 per hour with some concessions for trainees.

Practice description

please note that due to Covid and until an effective treatment or vaccine is in place I will only be offering telephone or virtual counselling and supervision.  Like many of my colleagues i look forward very much to returning to face to face work but currently do not see this as safe practice.

Whilst i know that clients value face to face and can feel uncertain about telephone/virtual counselling in my experience over the last 6 months this has rarely proved to be an issue.  If you would like virtual counselling over a platform such as zoom but feel you need support to set this up please do ask me and i will support where i can to get you started in using a virtual tool.

My first session

first sessions are usually approximately one hour but the normal fee of £40 applies.

In the first session we will hope to get an understanding of what you wish to work on, how this might be done, and if we feel that we can usefully work together.  I encourage all clients to step back for reflection after the first session and contact me via text 24-48 hours after if they wish to continue.
