I work both online and face to face. Both mediums offer their benefits, although some individuals may be more drawn to one over the other. Please contact me directly and hopefully we can find a time that suits you and your child.

About me and my therapy practice

I help children, young people and parents resolve problems with their feelings and relationships.

I do appreciate that it can be unnerving trying to find a therapist for your child and it is really important to find the right person. I offer a free introductory chat so we can get to know each other and allows you the opportunity to get a feel of what I can offer without having to commit right away.

Practice description

As an integrative Child Counsellor, I make use of the arts and play within sessions and am able to adapt my approach to best suit my clients needs. I help when children are experiencing difficulties with their feelings, behaviour and relationships. It is normal for children and young people to have challenges and worries as they grow up, but sometimes, for all sorts of reasons, it can be hard for them to sort these out without help. Covid has meant a lot of young children and teens are struggling with anxieties and feelings of isolation. Parents and other adults are usually able to assist, but sometimes they need additional help too.

It can sometimes be hard for children to agree to therapy, especially if they are anxious, and that can leave you as parents feeling frustrated and helpless. I can still help by working with you instead. I often provide guidance to parents wanting to help their child as well as offering more systemic parent-child work to start with in order to build the child’s trust.

I always offer you and your child these conditions: confidentiality, empathy, no judgement, respect and clear boundaries. These aspects are needed in order to build trust within the therapeutic relationship.

Here are some of the issues I help with:

Anxiety,

Low mood,

Struggling to express and manage these uncomfortable feelings

Troubled parent/child relationships and communication difficulties

Parental divorce and separation

Bereavement and loss

I use a variety of therapies to help and adapt the approach I use to suit each child/young person/family. If you'd like to know more, I can tell you about these approaches when we meet and when I have an idea what is going on for your child.

My first session

After our initial contact via phone, we will meet either in person or online to discuss expectations of therapy as well as to give me a more in depth understanding of what has brought you to seek therapy and any background information that may be relevant to the therapy.
