About me and my therapy practice
Hello and welcome, I hope you find my profile and information helpful in your counselling journey.
I'm a qualified integrative therapist and a registered member of the BACP currently working with adults, young people and children who experience anxiety, depression, stress, low self esteem and relationship issues.
I also have a strong grounding in attachment issues, working with Neurodiversity in adults and children, experiencing autism, ADHD and mental health conditions.
We seek counselling for many different reasons, maybe feeling disconnected to others and the world around you, but unsure why, or you may know what you want/need to explore and have clear goals and expectations. Sometimes we feel a need to change our perspective of life or explore difficulties happening now or from the past.
Whatever your feeling, together we can through your thoughts and feelings in a non-judgmental space where you will be fully accepted for who you are, helping you to unravel your thoughts with what you choose to bring into the session, aiming to help you gain a better sense of yourself and your world.
I can offer open-ended therapy, meaning you can choose yourself how long you want your counselling journey to be as well as choosing how you would like to work together, including online platforms in a completely confidential space, face to face either through home visits or through my garden counselling room. If you like outdoor spaces I am also qualified to offer 'Walk and Talk' counselling.
I have listed below some questions you might consider asking yourself before embarking on your counselling journey and look forward to hearing from you.
(I offer a free initial 30-minute phone or online consultation so you can consider if I am the right counsellor for you)
Below is a list of questions you might like to consider thinking about in your search to find a therapist.
- What are my goals and expectations of therapy?
- How will I get to and from the sessions?
- Do I feel comfortable in the space that is being offered?
- Do I feel at ease with the therapist?
- Does the counsellor have the relevant experience in what I would like to talk about.
(This list is not extensive, there may be many other questions or queries to consider)
My first session
I offer a free 30-minute informal session, to give you an opportunity to see if it we could work together.
Following on from this initial call, if you decide you would like to continue, our first session will feel a little different to subsequent sessions as it is important and necessary to gather information, completing an assessment to enable a good understanding of how I may be able to help and support you.
From then on, future sessions will be where you will lead the session with whatever you have chosen to bring to the therapy space, where I will listen and hear what you bring and help you to make sense of it, with the aim of enabling you to better understand yourself.
