About me and my therapy practice
Hello and welcome. I'm Gill and I am an integrative, humanistic counsellor working with adults and young people. I offer long and short-term talking therapy within a warm, non-judgemental, empathic and trusting therapeutic relationship. Here, we may explore your past, find comfort in the present to develop your self awareness and find a sense of your personal self-agency.
Together, we can consider relational and behavioural patterns, along with intrusive or unhelpful thoughts that impact your emotional well-being. The effects can be felt as anxiety, depression, panic, stress, self-esteem and relational difficulties to name just a few.

This first step you have taken can be the hardest for us to take, particularly if it is into the unfamiliar. It is especially difficult to do so when we are feeling overwhelmed or unable to understand the impact of our current thoughts and emotions. I would like to briefly explain a little about myself and how we may work together.
I have extensive experience as a counsellor both in an agency setting and within my private practice. I place huge importance on building a warm, trusting and supportive therapeutic relationship.
My approach is integrative, allowing me to apply a range of techniques and psychological approaches to create a service tailored to your needs, expectations and goals. My preferred approaches are Person Centred and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, these can be combined or adopted as a single model. I deliver Guided Imagery to enhance relaxation and Rewind techniques which explore phobias and trauma.
Our initial contract will typically be for six. 50 minute sessions. Following this, we will review our working and decide our nest steps moving forward.
Our sessions could be held virtually within a Zoom meeting, I attend home visits and within the open environment.
My first session

I offer a 30 minute free of charge initial session. we may meet within your home, via a Zoom meeting or telephone.
It is really important that you get a sense that you will be comfortable within our working, and this session will enable us to get to know one another as we discuss our future working.
We will then find a weekly time to meet and collaboratively discuss our working agreement.
