Practice description

In order to provide a good service to you, it necessitates for me to understand your individual needs with that you may be facing, as well as considering your circumstances of disability, culture, social inclusion and employment/unemployment from your perspective. I view every human being as a unique individual, and, I approach you as such, without judgment and with confidentiality, in a warm environment with freedom for you to tell your story as it is.

My aim is to work with you, for you to achieve your goals so you can manage or eliminate symptoms and work towards enjoying a more productive and less stressful life.

The type of therapy is subject to your presenting issues and your desired goals. The therapy sessions offered can be short-term or long term depending on your needs, for which may vary due to any additional issues that may evolve through your therapy.

My first session

On your first session you may feel anxious and not knowing how therapy works.  I provide a calm and peaceful space for you to be able to discuss your reasons for therapy and establish the type of therapy you require.

After your first session (and others too) of therapy, you may feel upset, tired or even exhausted and this is normal due to having the opportunity to talk about you.

About me and my therapy practice

“I offer to my supervisees the same as I gain from my supervisor – Mutual respect, a boundaried session, freedom to express – a voice that can be heard, congruence, understanding, effective challenging, relevant interpretations, support, a learning environment, exploration – of transference and counter-transference and to be pro-active and not re-active”

I am committed to working within ethical principles and I regularly attend courses to enhance my personal development and keep abreast within an ever-evolving environment.

I have experience in working with adults and children for both time limited and long-term interventions. I offer individual and group supervision, privately and within agency settings.

I bring to supervision my experience of working in voluntary and the private sector holding a variety of roles; in depth experience of a range of therapeutic orientations; and experience working with people from a variety of cultures and many interesting and educational walks on life.

Practice description

My approach is integrative – looking at the whole person of mental, physical and emotional ‘self.

I have the ability to pull on Psychodynamic theory, Humanistic – person-centred, CBT, SFBT (Solution Focused Brief Therapy) to name but a few (please ask).

I see supervision as a collaborative process, within which I encourage supervisees to explore all issues that concern them in their work.

My aim as a supervisor is to support you and each practitioner to discover and consolidate his or her unique strengths and professional identity.  To provide a space within this challenging vocation; to guide you in working ethically for the best interests of your clients; widen your self-awareness as a therapist and encourage you to build upon your skills and self development.

My supervision style has matured and been influenced by a variety of gifted supervisors. I am most grateful to them for their insights, to which widened my understanding and provided me with the opportunity to view issues revealed by my clients from a different perspective which in turn enhances the therapeutic relationship between my clients and me.

I acknowledge how the unconscious process reveals it’s self when one is paying attention to the therapeutic relationship. In addition, I acknowledge forces that are physical, emotional, intellectual, and transpersonal, to which shapes our identities. I too, work with the knowledge our inner worlds become impacted by social, environmental, cultural and economic factors.

My first session

On your first Supervision session, we will explore your professional requirement, talk about your life, experiences inclusive of your work, training and personal life.

Ask each other questions and establish your times and regularity you wish for your supervision session times.

Supervision just like therapy is to establish a therapeutic relationship with the aim to ensure the development will provide a safe place for you to discuss you, your concerns and successes to safeguard each one of your clients welfare.
