I offer both short term and long term sessions. I am unable to do Fridays, with no current availability on weekends. I mostly offer telephone sessions with some availability for online sessions (zoom). I also understand that sometimes speaking on the phone or by video call can be really distressing in it self so I also offer text based counselling for a reduced price.
About me and my therapy practice
Life is an unknown factor, and it may often involve upsetting, stressful, or traumatic events that can negatively impact how we think, feel, and cope on a day to day basis. During COVID-19 especially, it is understandable that many lives have changed, and the impacts of the pandemic on mental health are unclear. Even as restrictions ease, this may not offer any mental relief, and may make some of us feel even more troubled. Whatever your circumstances, I will provide a warm, compassionate and empathetic voice. Often, people may think that needing therapy is a sign of weakness, but in fact it’s a true sign of strength. As humans we all make mistakes, we all have flaws, and we can all improve - that is our beauty. Therapy can be a way to explore all sorts of emotions and behaviours in a non-judgemental, safe space. We will use our sessions to guide you through events, memories, and current emotions, and I will help you to interpret and understand these.
I have a BSc in Psychology and Sociology from Keele University, as well as an MSc in Counselling and Psychotherapy from Keele. I am qualified in offering person-centred counselling, but have some training in CBT frameworks also. I have almost 8 years experience in supporting individuals with a wide range of mental health issues. This includes work within the national Probation Service, the NHS, and local and National charities. My main areas of experience include: anxiety, depression, learning disabilities, autism, ADHD, psychosis, personality disorders, post traumatic stress, and dementia.
I charge £40 per 50 minutes telephone/online session. The first session will be £40 also. I also offer text based counselling for those anxious about telephone or video call sessions for £30 per 40 minute session. Payment must be sent prior to our session otherwise the session will not go ahead.
My first session
For our first session we will spend time going over basic information, such as your preferred pronouns, diagnoses and medication history, as well as the main issues you are facing at the moment. I will also ask about major life events, both good and bad, to get an idea of what may have had an impact on your thoughts and feelings. It will mostly be an informal chit chat, getting to know you and allowing you to see if our personalities match and a taster for any future sessions together.
