About me and my therapy practice

My name is Lisa Hazell and I am a person-centred MBACP counsellor. I have my Fda & BSc Honours in Counselling, and I'm currently working towards my MA in Trauma, where my specialism will be working with traumatised children and adults.

I offer a friendly, personalised person-centred approach, with a mixture of integrated to help improve all aspects of your emotional wellbeing. I offer a safe, friendly, non-judgemental environment where you can discuss what is troubling you.

I have many years of experience working with Domestic Abuse, both as a key worker and as a counsellor. I have over 14 years of experience working with chronically disengaged children/young people and their families, especially children/young people with SEMH issues. I have experience in working with drug/alcohol addictions, ex-offenders and homelessness. I have also experienced working with Autism and ADHD.

I would say my specialism does lie in Trauma, whether that is domestic abuse, sexual abuse, or childhood sexual abuse. I have also worked with veterans. Furthermore, I also work with generic mental health problems including anxiety, depression, low mood etc.

Practice description

Counselling can be a daunting experience, so finding the right counsellor that you can connect with is very important, as the therapeutic relationship is key to a more positive outcome.

Therefore I offer a discounted first session to discuss your issues and this gives you the chance to decide whether I'm the counsellor for you and if you would like to continue working with me.

I carry out both short and long-term counselling, at the moment this will be remotely either over the telephone or online, and you can either pay in blocks or before every session

My first session

During our initial session, I will carry out an evaluation to give me a better idea of how best to support you and to help create a plan moving forward. It also gives you the chance to discuss what you're hoping to gain from counselling and set realistic goals.
