About me and my therapy practice

My name is Lisa Hazell, and I am a registered MBACP Trauma Informed Counsellor. I have over 14 years of experience in Pupil Referral Units working with chronically disengaged young people and their families as a Safeguarding Lead. I have around 5 years of experience in working with Domestic abuse both as a counsellor and a Key Worker. I have experience in working with Ex-offenders, homelessness, drug/alcohol addictions, Anxiety, Stress, Depression, Stress, Veterans, self-harm, ADHD, Autism, SEMH. I currently have a contract to counsel staff within Education around the country, and I also currently work with University students.

I am currently studying my Masters in Trauma, where my specialism will be working with traumatised children.

Practice description

As a Trauma Informed Counsellor, I will offer you a safe space to help you explore your core issues and move toward a healthy, fulfilling life. With honesty and compassion, I will work with you to create an open channel of communication. The goal of our therapy sessions together will be to help you develop the mental fortitude needed to lead a successful life. Additionally, we will work on the skill of self-compassion, which will allow you to move more easily through difficult times in the future as well as become a more productive and happier person.

My great passion is bringing healing to people who have been through traumatic/stressful experiences. When people experience trauma or severe life stressors, it is not uncommon for their lives to unravel. I help my clients to find healthy perceptions of themselves and strengthen their relationships so they can know themselves as peaceful, complete, whole, and safe.

Your story, your pain, and your collection of struggles are unique to you. There is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. We will spend time understanding exactly what you are experiencing and why so that when you start making changes that improve your life, they will stick.

My first session

During our initial session, I will carry out an evaluation to give me a better idea of how best to support you and to help create a plan moving forward. It also gives you the chance to discuss what you're hoping to gain from counselling and set realistic goals.
