About me and my therapy practice
I offer a safe, non-judgemental place where you can talk about whatever you are thinking or feeling, whatever concerns or problems you may have. The process of being listened to and supported by someone who is separate from the rest of your life can be a really valuable and unique experience. My approach to counselling is not to give advice or tell you what to do but to help you to gain a better understanding of yourself and your situation and find a way forward.
My view is that counselling is most effective through establishing a trusting working relationship with your Counsellor. Therefore it is important to find a Counsellor who feels right for you. Initially it might be helpful for us to have a phone conversation or meet for a first appointment to explore what is going on for you and whether counselling with me is right for you at this time.
I have 17 years experience of working as a Counsellor, in voluntary agencies, in a college setting and now in private practice. My grounding is in person-centred and psychodynamic theory and I offer both short-term and long-term counselling depending on what you may want and need.
Coming to counselling can not only alleviate all sorts of difficulties and deal with specific problems but can also lead to significant positive personal development, growth and change. I look forward to hearing from you and - possibly - to us working together.
