I currently have availability for daytime and evening appointments for individuals and couples (relationship counselling). I am able to offer a range of session times for those who might otherwise struggle to find private time and space at home.
About me and my therapy practice
Whatever brings you to counselling (as individuals or as a couple), I will aim to help you feel valued, heard and understood. I can help you to identify the challenges you are experiencing, discover ways to cope and to move forward in meaningful ways.
I see my role as empowering you to heal, rediscover your strengths and increase your ability to trust yourself. I will value you as a unique, complex individual who brings with you all of your experiences, hurts, worries and desires. Together, we will work collaboratively and with care, to help you achieve what you want from the therapeutic process.
My particular expertise is with working with losses, low self esteem, bereavements and life transitions of all kinds. Whilst I think that it is important that I provide you with a sense of the types of issues I have the most experience working with, it is important to me to also say that I am interested to get to know you as unique, multi-faceted individuals. I believe that everyone is far more than the intersections of their lived experiences.
I am happy to work via online video call (Zoom, Googlemeet) or phone with you, wherever you are based in the UK. If you are unsure about accessing counselling online I am happy to take you step-by-step through the process of setting up and to make it as easy for you as possible. It may be reassuring for you to know that I have done this with many clients already.
I also work face-to-face from a comfortable, private counselling room in Nether Edge, Sheffield.
My first session
For individuals and couples, I offer a reduced price first 50 minute session so that you can see whether I feel like a good 'fit' of counsellor for you.
It is important to me in a first session that you feel as comfortable as possible. You may wish to share a lot with me in a first session or you may wish to take things slowly. During a first session I will be trying to understand what has brought you to counselling, to gain a sense of you and to begin to see how we may be able to work together towards the aims you hold for counselling.
We will work together collaboratively and so you may wish to ask me questions as well about my experience and the way that I work. You are very welcome to do this.
