About me and my therapy practice

I’m offering online & telephone sessions with reduced fees for Frontline Staff, Key Workers and the Self Employed who have been impacted by the Coronavirus physical distancing and self isolation measures.

I specialise in loss, which includes the loss of freedom the Covid-19 lock-down brings as well as bereavement, loss of hopes, relationships, work. The list of loss related issues is long.

Regarding isolation due to Coronavirus, the anxiety, overwhelm and trauma of losing freedom cannot be underestimated and includes many physical symptoms. I acknowledge that the recent measures have impacted your life. We are being told we must not be close to family and friends; we must stay away from shops; that we cannot safely socialise anywhere. I am aware that for many people the only social contact they had before was popping to the shops and having a chat with the cashier. Maybe you feel lonely, anxious and overwhelmed. You don’t have to isolate without the support you need.

Counselling is not always a comfortable process. My role is to stand with you while you explore your experience. Together we will identify the tools available to you, tools that will help you to heal and thrive.

In addition, you can learn to be proactive in the regulation of your body’s experience, helping you to overcome physiological symptoms, such as panic attacks, flashbacks, palpitations & sleeplessness. We may work with your dreams, with objects or using visualization. At all times I will respect your right to decline the use of these types of intervention. Above all, this is your therapy & you will be an active participant in creating your path to a thriving life.

Practice description

At this time I work online using Zoom video conferencing and via telephone. When social distancing ends I will resume face-to-face work and outdoor walk-and-talk therapy.

My first session

Before your first session we will have the opportunity to talk on the phone. You do not have to commit at this time, the purpose of our conversation is to assess whether we can work together. It is important you get a sense that I am the therapist for you because our relationship is important to our work together. I need to know that I can offer the unique skill set you need. If I can't, I will signpost you to someone I think may better suit your needs. This is not a one box fits all scenario because we are unique beings, so we need to be a good fit.

If we decide to go ahead we will make an appointment for a formal assessment. This aims to establish what your needs are & how you will know when you have what you need. Initial Assessment Session: £25 for 50 minutes

Subsequent sessions will be charged at my normal rate of £45 or £34 if you are a Frontline worker, Key worker or Self employed and impacted by recent Coronavirus measures.
