I am currently offering online sessions on Zoom.
Virtual sessions are relatively easy to fit into your day and, they can be beneficial for anyone who struggles with in-person communication.
About me and my therapy practice
HOW I WORK
I am trained in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, which underpins my theoretical framework, but I also draw on some techniques from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and the Dual Process Model, which is a way of working with bereavement.
Psychotherapy is about exploring your thoughts and feelings and unhelpful patterns of behaviour that gives life to your internal world.
Working in a psychodynamic way means taking a closer look at your childhood relationships and experiences as these serve as a blueprint for your adult life. We all have feelings and experiences that are filtered out and repressed unconsciously, usually because they are too difficult for us to think about at the time. Often, these thoughts and feelings will show up in a different way that might leave you feeling anxious or “horrible”, lacking in direction, looking for meaning, or wanting fulfilment from life.
I recognise that our internal worlds are also influenced by society at large, which can impact us in ways we might not realise. Our identity is made up of different parts that intersect, creating different experiences within our environment that has an influence on our internal worlds.
I offer an interactive, non-judgemental, and confidential space that can be challenging where needed. At present, I am only offering online sessions. The benefits of virtual therapy is it’s, generally, easier to fit into your day, and it bridges the gap for anyone who might struggle with in-person social interaction.
Upon making an initial enquiry via email, I will offer a free, short phone call to discuss your needs in more detail.
If you wish to proceed, I will schedule an online consultation, which will last about 1 hour. This will go into more depth about your difficulties. It’s a chance for me to see how I can help you and for you to see if you want to work with me.
If you are unsure about how you want to proceed, I usually recommend starting with a minimum of 6 sessions - there’s always room to extend further if you wish.
I work with long-term, open-ended, and short-term clients. Often, short-term involves working on a specific issue, while long-term / open-ended work is designed to focus on creating change on a deeper level.
