Availability

Times are available, we can discuss and arrange logistics by phone prior to starting counselling.

I usually work Monday to Thursday - some evenings and daytime's, some mornings and some afternoons. I occasionally have a weekend time available if we cannot find a good time during the week. Usually I am able to make things work for a mutually agreeable time. 

My current plans are: I am away on holiday for 1 week in mid May and I may be taking one week off at Easter or another time. I will give you notice of this.

About me and my therapy practice

I am a fully qualified Integrative Counsellor experienced in working with adults and young adults (from age 16), no matter their age, sex, orientation, background, culture or issues. I provide a warm, friendly, non-judgmental and confidential environment so that you feel comfortable to speak about anything which is troubling you.

I believe therapy works best when you feel safe and comfortable to talk freely about your concerns and can build a trusting relationship with your counsellor. This is why I will always emphasise that I am not here to judge you and provide a warm and welcoming environment.

Areas of special interest are: Anxiety and depression, Identity, self awareness and relationships, Confidence and self esteem issues, Young adults and students (16+), High sensitivity, Creative approaches. Remote therapy - video or telephone

Practice description

I work with anyone in the UK remotely through the methods of telephone and video conferencing (Zoom). We can collaboratively utilise tools via screen share which can be helpful. Whatever your concerns, together we can look at a way to understand this. Perhaps we will investigate your sense of what is missing, or your values and what makes you you and perhaps we will look at the thoughts and feelings you may have. With an aim for you to know yourself more deeply and find your answers.

I use a combined approach to work in a way which best suits the issues you bring and your individual preferences. All that is needed is your commitment and openness. I have a range of experience to draw on. My therapies include: Person Centred Therapy (PCT), Psychodynamic Therapy (PT), Gestalt Therapy (GT) & Coaching. Person Centred Therapy is a core approach and value system that ensures the therapy follows a direction you are comfortable with. The emphasis is on listening and providing a very supportive, warm environment. It is empowering. Psychodynamic  and Gestalt approaches build on and work alongside Person Centred therapy.

Professional level Coaching: This is a goal focused approach which is different from counselling as it does not look as deeply into your psychology or history. We can together seek clarity through a range of reflection tools. Coaching can be about your career or your life or a combination of the two. You need to choose which approach you want to use - counselling or coaching. 

Other techniques: Meditation, grounding & relaxation techniques (Transpersonal), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) approaches, Transactional Analysis (TA) approaches & creative approaches.

My first session

In the first session we will complete an assessment. This means I will ask lots of questions and take some notes. This is in order to help me work in the best way with you and understand more about your life and how you are in the interests of your safety. It is also an opportunity for us to start to get to know each other and form the connection for the counselling to be useful for you.

All details and notes are kept securely and confidentially according to data protection law.

I offer a free initial brief phone call so that we can discuss logistics before counselling starts and for you to decide whether you will be comfortable speaking to me. It's very important you choose a counselor your feel comfortable with.
