About me and my therapy practice
My counselling training and background are in existential-humanistic psychotherapy and I choose a pragmatic and flexible stance in my work with clients. This means that I try to tailor my approach to the needs of the individual, while remaining consistent with my chosen model of therapy. I place great importance on developing a solid, meaningful therapeutic relationship with the client as the basis for pursuing any other goal in my work with them. Since people are different and unique, the needs they are bringing to therapy will differ each time and I believe it is important for a therapist to be receptive to that.
I have over 20 years of experience of work with clients, working as a full-time therapist in different settings including private practice, NHS, primary care, mental health and alcohol and drugs services. In this time, I have worked with an extensive range of issues and clients of all ages and backgrounds. Beside my work for local organisations, I hold a private practice, working with both individuals and couples. The fee for adults and young people 14 + is £50 per 50 minute session and for couples, the fee is £ 60 per one hour work.
My first session
In addition to giving potential new clients information about myself at the first point of contact, I offer anyone who contacts me an opportunity to meet me in person, before any decision about going ahead with therapy is made. This first meeting normally lasts half an hour and is free of charge. The person who has approached me can then decide whether or not they feel I am the right person for them to undertake therapy with.
