About me and my therapy practice
Working face-to-face and/or online with Zoom and telephone.
My aim is to provide a warm, confidential and non-judgemental space in which you feel comfortable exploring issues, thoughts and feelings.
The first step is often the most important, realising that there may be another way forward. If you are reading this, I suggest that you may have taken that step.
My counselling philosophy is that through compassionate exploration about what we feel and why we feel a certain way, we can start to think about how we might like to manage some positive change.
People come to counselling for many reasons, for example when they are experiencing difficulties such depression, anxiety, distress, anxiety, panic, and confusion. Additionally, people can find it helpful to talk when dealing with bereavement, experience of abuse, feelings of low self esteem, understanding the impact of neuro-divergence, and much more.
I am a BACP registered integrative counsellor and am in advanced clinical psychotherapy training. Prior to training as a counsellor I worked in industry for 20 years, in finance, and have a body of life experience.
I am trained in Person Centred (Talking) Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and transactional Analysis. My ongoing clinical psychotherapy training is in Transactional Analysis, which is a theory of childhood, personality and relationships.
The theories above inform much of my work and support me to work with you as a unique individual.
If you would like to consider counselling, I suggest an initial 20 minute telephone conversation for us to chat through what you might be looking for from counselling therapy. This is free of charge.
I have experience of working within the NHS, and am now in private practice.
