About me and my therapy practice

I offer Counselling and/or Animal-assisted Therapy to individuals from age 11 up to adulthood & also families and groups. I’m friendly, caring, empathic, easy going, approachable, with great motivational skills.

Its your choice whether to have a therapy pet, cat or dog. I have a robot cat for frail or allergic people. They can help you feel more at ease; & help you express yourself. The simple act of petting animals releases automatic relaxation responses & is proven to release serotonin, prolactin and oxytocin. All feel good hormones that elevate moods, bring great health benefits e.g. lowering blood pressure, relaxation, relieving stress, building confidence, improving self-esteem, relieving symptoms of depression and anxiety.

The therapy is Humanistic with other models integrated as necessary. The therapeutic relationship is an important factor in allowing deeper empathic understanding and further self-discovery, without judgement, in the strictest confidence.

I have a broad knowledge of Illness & living with disabilities, a Nursing & Social Care background, working with adults, children & adolescents. Victims of domestic abuse, bereavement, child loss, loss of a pet, trauma, relationships, divorce, pregnancy, mother support, childcare and a vast array of Mental Health issues like depression/Anxiety, GAD, PTSD. Coaching help for other life issues, managing disability and illness like Fibromyalgia, CFS, help with benefits, job finding/CV writing, increase motivation, & help to build self-esteem/confidence.

The first half hour is FREE. Individuals pay £40 assessment fee, plus advance counselling fee of £40 to book your next session, then sessions are paid weekly for 50 minutes, reviewed every 8 sessions evidencing any change.
