About me and my therapy practice

I am passionate about offering a safe space to support and facilitate self-exploration and discovery, helping people to find their voice and their truth.

At times we can feel very alone, unsure whether we have the inner resources to make any changes, let alone grow. It takes courage to reach out and ask for help and the process of finding support can feel daunting, whether this is the first time you have looked for a therapist, or you have done so before.

My core training is in person-centred counselling. The foundations of this approach are central to my practice.  As your counsellor, I will listen to you and support you to explore whatever you need to with

  • empathy – to deeply understand you and your experience
  • congruence – to be genuine and real with you
  • unconditional high regard – to accept you as you are without judgement

I offer a safe, welcoming, compassionate space for you to talk about whatever is troubling you.

How I work is also informed by my desire to continue learning and keep an open mind about ideas and ways of working that are new to me. My practice is nourished by learning about and practicing mindfulness and self-compassion. I have begun to study Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to build on this and eventually to be able to offer ACT to clients.

Practice description

I am a BACP registered counsellor. I hold a Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling from a BACP accredited course awarded by the University of Brighton.

I am a WRAP (Wellness Recovery Action Planning) group facilitator and trainer.

I continue to develop my practice by attending workshops, training courses, supervision, reading and researching – all of this supports me both professionally and personally.

And I learn from everyone I meet. As a group facilitator and counsellor, I have had the privilege of working with hundreds of people from all walks of life. The conversations and discussions I have been part of have taught me so much about what it is to be human.

My first session

I offer a free introductory consultation for up to 30-minutes. This is so that we can meet, you can ask any questions you may have and explore what you are looking for in therapy.

Counselling can go on for a handful of sessions or longer, depending on what you need. Together we will periodically review our work to ensure it is meeting your needs.

Each counselling session will be a 50-minute appointment and we will usually meet weekly.
