About me and my therapy practice
My approach aims to help couples and individuals to make sense of what might feel confused, to take time to consider their situation in depth and to feel confident to make changes that will help them achieve their goals.
Counselling isn’t advice-giving and whilst I won’t tell you what to do, I commit to working hard alongside you. Should you find it helpful, I can offer strategies and approaches based on established research and knowledge, which can help to improve your situation.
I have over 28 years experience of providing counselling. My accreditation by both BACP and COSRT reflect the seven years of study I have undertaken to become a counselling psychotherapist, with specific interest and expertise in working to help couples and individuals improve their relationships.
I have worked with Relate since 2000, in GP and educational settings and have specialisms in Psychosexual Therapy and Behavioural Therapy for Depression. I am experienced in providing counselling (via Macmillan) for cancer patients and working in a hospital setting with bereaved parents. I have also had several years experience as a clinical manager for a leading EAP provider
My first sessionAn initial session is a chance for you to talk about your concerns and consider what you hope to get out of counselling. This helps us decide whether what I offer is best suited to your needs. If it is, and you wish to go ahead, we decide on a day of the week and time that we can meet regularly.
