About me and my therapy practice
Hi. My name is Mike. I'm a professional counsellor who previously worked for many years as a registered nurse. I'm particularly interested in helping people with Addiction Issues, Child and Adult Trauma, Suicide Bereavement, Health & Medical Issues and Work Related Stress in the NHS as well as anxiety, depression or relationship issues.
I have been using counselling skills as a therapist and nurse for the past 20 years to help people through dark, challenging times.
In addition to my professional training and experience, I have been able to draw on my own personal experience of life, suffering and counselling to enhance my therapeutic relationship with my clients.
Whatever you are going through right now or have been through in the past, I can offer you an honest, caring and accepting place that is confidential so you can safely explore and talk about your thoughts and feelings without fear of being judged or shamed.
Apart from being in private practice, I have previously worked as a Volunteer Counsellor with We Are With You (formerly Addaction)
I work with clients on an open-ended basis or for an agreed time period, with the aim of enabling you to enhance your life and to live it more fully.
Even just a few sessions of counselling can be life changing.
Counselling sessions are confidential and non-judgemental to help you feel safe to talk about whatever you are comfortable without feeling afraid, embarrassed or ashamed.
My first session
This is an opportunity for you to meet me, ask me any questions you might have, determine what your goals are and see if I am able to help you. It is a chance to get to know each and see if we are able to work together. Many clients find that even their first session can be therapeutic. You are under no obligation to continue therapy with me. Sometimes just one session is an opportunity to unburden and "get things off your chest" which can be wonderfully liberating.
