About me and my therapy practice
Counselling has been shown to be effective in improving the lives of individuals struggling with past or present difficulties. Taking the initial steps can feel overwhelming and change can be daunting. It takes courage and determination to enter into a journey of change and self-reflection. It can be an empowering and transforming experience, leaving you more in control of making positive choices in life. It is always a privilege to be allowed to share those journeys. I hope, together, we will be able to form a therapeutic relationship that allows you to meet your aspirations. I am a compassionate, empathic counsellor, willing to support and enable you to find the strength to overcome the difficulties you may face. I provide a safe and confidential space to allow you to talk openly about your issues without judgement or prejudice, to feel understood, and be supported throughout. Counselling allows you the space and time to develop a deeper level of self-awareness. This can enable you to gain insight and understanding of who you are, how you relate to the world, and how this can influence the way you function in life. I use a combination of talking therapy and CBT to create a unique therapy experience tailored to suit your specific requirements.
I offer both short term, goal specific, solution focused therapy as well as long term open ended counselling, which is best for you is something that we will discuss in the initial session and review on a regular basis.
In person sessions are available in the counselling room in Cardiff. Online sessions are delivered by telephone or via the secure online platform Zoom depending on your preference.
My first session
The therapeutic relationship is the foundation of successful therapy and it is important you feel comfortable with your therapist.
For this reason I use the first session as an opportunity for us to get to know each other a little. I aim to provide you with an opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the way I work, or the process of counselling, to find out whether we are a good fit.
I also complete a brief assessment to establish what you want and need from your therapy sessions and discuss how we can achieve that together.
