About me and my therapy practice
I am a BACP Accredited counsellor offering long-term and short-term individual therapy to adults. Since March 2020, I have been working entirely online (using video software such as Zoom) or by phone. I am unable to see clients face to face indoors at present, although I may be able to offer limited "walking counselling" sessions on request.
I completed a BSc in Integrative Counselling at Roehampton University in 2006 and gained BACP Accredited status in 2008.
I have a specific interest in offering personal therapy to counselling trainees and have worked with trainees from a number of different training organisations. I offer reduced fees for counselling trainees, on request.
I also have an interest in bereavement and completed additional training with Cruse in 2007.
I work flexibly during the day and may be able to offer evening sessions. I offer 50 minute sessions, after an initial assessment session lasting an hour. I see clients for anything from one session to weekly sessions for several years.
I have experience of working with a wide range of issues, gained in a variety of settings, including a hospice, the NHS, occupational health, student health and an Employee Assistance Programme (EAP). I have worked in private practice since 2008.
I decided to retrain as a counsellor after working for a number of years as a manager in local government. I particularly enjoyed the pastoral care aspects of my managerial role and see my role as a counsellor as one of restoring or enhancing the wellbeing of my clients.
I can offer a safe place for you to discuss your issues confidentially and for us to work through them together as we build a strong, trusting relationship between us. You should be aware that, unfortunately, I cannot wave a magic wand to make you feel better and counselling therefore requires some commitment on your part and may take some time.
