About me and my therapy practice
Seeking counselling can be daunting, but it is also a sign that you are stronger than you think, and you want something better for yourself. Life is challenging and we all go through times of distress, confusion and despair, leaving us feeling overwhelmed, anxious, depressed, stuck or lacking self-confidence. It may be something happening right now, or something that happened long ago, either way, therapy with me is a safe and respectful space to reflect on your life, increase your understanding and awareness, and find acceptance and answers. I am a humanistic counsellor, which means I work collaboratively and at your pace. I will encourage you to honestly explore your life and find new perspectives. I believe counselling is way to be gently curious about ourselves, others, and the wider world, helping us find new meaning and purpose. I draw on existential, Gestalt and Jungian ideas in my work. If it feels right for you, we can use creativity, such as visualisations and role play, as I believe it can be a safer way to reflect on painful or difficult experiences.
I am an experienced counsellor, with a PGDip in Humanistic Psychotherapeutic Counselling from the University of Brighton. In addition to my private practice, I work in the voluntary sector as a counsellor for As You Are, a low-cost counselling charity in Southwick. I have worked with clients dealing with anxiety, depression, grief, addiction, chronic illness, phobias, and the long term effects of trauma. I also teach reflective practice to professionals in the caring and humanitarian sectors at the University of Sussex and I facilitate workshops in and around Brighton.
Finding a counsellor that is right for you is important, so I offer either an initial 30 minute conversation over the phone for free, or a 30 minute meeting face to face that costs £10 (to cover the cost of the room). You are under no obligation to continue.
