About me and my therapy practice
If you are struggling with difficult thoughts, feelings, behaviours, circumstances, or relationships, it can help to talk to someone who isn't directly involved.
My name is Caroline, and I am a humanistic and integrative counsellor. That simply means that I draw on a range of approaches to inform my counselling work, and I tailor how we work to your individual needs.
I offer a space where you can explore what is happening for you, openly and without judgement. Together we can identify the issues, patterns or relationships that might be causing you distress; look at the influence of past experience on what is happening now; consider any changes that you may want to make and what gets in the way. I see it as a joint exploration, rather than me telling you what to do.
My training includes person-centred, psychodynamic and relational approaches to therapy. I have done additional training in anxiety, OCD, bereavement and loss, trauma, autism.
I offer counselling for individual adults. I can see clients in person in my garden office in Ashton Keynes (near Cirencester or Swindon).
I also do counselling by phone or online, meaning that I can see you wherever you live, without incurring the time or expense of travelling.
As well as my private practice, I work for We Hear You (https://www.wehearyou.org.uk/), providing counselling to people affected by cancer or bereaved through illness.
I offer a 'talking therapy' which means we would explore together what is going on for you. Within a safe, supportive counselling relationship we can explore, understand, accept and address whatever you are struggling with.
My first session
I know it can be daunting to take that first step to meet with a counsellor. If you would like to call or email me before booking an appointment you are welcome to do so.
I charge for the first session at my usual rate, as it is usually a very helpful opportunity to articulate what you feel you are struggling with and to think about what help you are looking for. It is a chance to experience working with me, and to decide whether I am the right counsellor for you. There is no obligation to continue if you don't feel it is right.
